Aquarium Adventures Programs

Guided Tours

Ages: 6 to adult

Get an insider's view of the Aquarium by choosing one of our Behind-the-Scenes tours. Choose a 50-minute Behind-the-Scenes tour for a look into how we care for over 6,000 animals. Choose our Family Tour for a fun interactive experience designed for families with kids 8 and under. We also have personal guided tours for a more private individual or group experience.

Underwater Explorers

Ages: 8-13

In this unique program, kids ages 8 to 13 are introduced to SCUBA with Aquarium staff in the Great Tide Pool. They'll meet amazing critters while getting a fish-eye view of the wonders of the bay as they float safely on the surface.

Morning Rounds

Ages: 8 to adult

Interact with our exhibit animals as an aquarist would. Go behind the scenes before the Aquarium opens and see what goes into the start of each day. You'll even feed some of our animals.

Family Seashore Sleepover

Ages: 5 to adult

Enjoy the Aquarium with your family after hours and fall asleep next to your favorite exhibit! We offer fun activities throughout the night, or you can explore the Aquarium on your own before ending the evening with a bedtime snack. In the morning, wake up with the fishes and enjoy a continental breakfast in the Portola Restaurant.

Youth Group Seashore Sleepovers

Ages: 5-14 to adult

Youth groups can have a great overnight experience at the Aquarium. It’s a chance to explore the Aquarium after hours, and sleep beside our world-class exhibits. Throughout the evening, we'll offer a variety of activities led by our staff.

Sailing Adventures: Day Sails

This program takes place June through September

Ages: 10 to adult

Become a marine scientist for a day! Experience the natural wonders of Monterey Bay first-hand as you work alongside Aquarium naturalists aboard the Derek M Baylis, a 65-foot sailboat designed for ocean research.

Sailing Adventures: Sunset Sails

This program takes place June through September

Ages: 10 to adult

Join us for a spectacular sunset sail on the waters of the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary. Enjoy light refreshments and watch for wildlife on the bay.
